The density of Base Stations on the network depends on the local topography and clutter as well as the network capacity requirements (each site has a finite capacity).
If you are only interested in the Civils works involved with deploying the grillage, concrete and power supply then you should have asked the RF Planners how many sites they are looking to deploy (they should know) and where, etc. Also your Civil Engineers should have accounted for the different types of installation as they all cost different amounts; Microcell Macrocell Picocell You would also have different budgets for deploying on the following categories rooftop sites greenfield (towers etc) sites site shares (equipment deployed on existing towers). On another note - for all those looking for info (without really looking) I will only give you hints as to where to find it, not actually send you any information directly. See the links that I have already provided. If you are able to type into a search engine such as Google, the words GSM, 3G, UMTS or CDMA etc then there will be more information than you could ever want.
Also as I have stated before the following web page can be used as a source 3GPP Be empowered to learn for yourself Regards ------------------------- Eur Ing John Colquhoun CEng MIET Si Je Puis Clarior Hinc Honos Operations Manager - Telecommunications (Scotland) <img src="/forums/forum/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> |

Hi all,
This is Azfar, I have recntly joined the group. I am applying for the post of RF optimization engineer and have recently got an interview call, I have sufficient knowledge about GSM system Channels, Handoffs, frequency hopping, HSN, MAIO, I want some help regarding optimization in GSM systems, what parameters we are looking at in optimization , how do we optimize the network. what parameters do we change based on the drivetest results, how does antenaa heights and tilts related to optimization and what are the practical difficulties in optimizing a network, what is the significance of Drive Test, Can some one give me detailed answer about my queries. |

We have a lot of factors for optimization and different networks have different approach (ie terrains, network size etc.),, but generally the main objective is to achieve a certain kpi as required by customer or as required by quality standards.. hope somebody can add more,, cheers!!!!
