Hi All, - sorry for this slightly mundane post....
I am looking at aerials for receiving digital TV, FM radio and DAB radio for distribution via a loft box and have come across these: SLX DOME Can there be a one size fits all solution to this that actually works, or is it just a gimmick? I was assuming I would fit both TV and Radio aerials, but am always a sucker for new gadgets. - It looks quite space age too! Cheers, Dave. |

Hi Dave. In a word or two, highly unlikely...
The bandwidth it is covering is huge, it defies the laws of physics. I think you would have to be in a good reception area for it to work, and if you were a length of wire in the antenna socket of a pre-amplifier would probably work just as well. Sorry! |

Yes Alan, but DAB to the top end of the digital broadcast band.. 190MHz - 850MHz----
You couldnt expect a doublet to work that far! Tim M0AFJ / G8GGP |

There are so many snake oil antennas on the market, I had an 817 once but didnt get much reception on a rubber duck on 160!, certainly would not have heard Bill 5 in the old days.

Oh yes Bill 5 went SK many years ago, I was very suprised to see his call reissued though, made me feel not quite right. I still keep in touch with Keith G3OXH, he's down on Sheppey.
Shortened antennas do work well, I built an active e field antenna to the design of PA0RDT, its suprising how well it works, and I have 66ft of wire wrapped around a 35ft fibreglass pole, which does quite well. Cheers Tim |
