just a quicky.
if testing a rcd and trips within required time with meter, but does not trip when test button is pushed on rcd is this a code 1 on pir form.

can you explain why this is when the rcd operates fine under fault conditions. is it just because the consumer canot test it ?

I'd change this device as quarterly (press) tests are required for non-competent persons to ensure ongoing protection.
(yeah, like this will happen in reality!!!)

The fact that the device works electrically is comforting, but not good enough... grasp the nettle mate!

yes, this needs to be carried out quaterly as stated on the sticker that should be stuck on the consumer unit.
