Hi there

Does anyone know where I can find a rule of thumb as to the amount of sockets that should be included in a secondary school classroom.

I am carrying out a design and wondered if there is a rule of thumb anywhere.

I have access to the Building Bulletins but can't seem to find anything specific to small power requirements.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

I've just done a refurb at a school.
All depends (as usual!).
One room had 4 extra twin sockets added, making 5 total, the other one (exactly the same size, just over the corridor) had just the single existing s/o left insitu.
A reading room, why any socket outlets at all?
A computer room - 20+?

You need to know more of the potential uses, and find if they require provision for future expansion, or just what they have planned for the next year.

I had this conversation with the Council Agent. Money was tight, so just what they wanted, nothing extra. If somethung needed doing in the future, they'd have a different budget for it then.

Thanks for your reply

I was just wondering if there was a rule of thumb documented anywhere that said for a normal classroom then x number of sockets per xm2.

I would assume it would depend on the usage of the classroom, rooms with computers are going to need more than rooms for just teaching, i've done quite a few schools and quantities all seem to be different, the only common thing is the use of dado trunking for the power and data, very adaptable should you need to add more!!

Thanks

Alan.

Now what was that reg no?
