Hi peeps

i have a hotel refurb on the go and the 3 phase cutouts are in a poor condition.

They are basically 3 single phase fuse carriers mounted on a board in various positions. You have all probably seen such a mess,

I have asked WP to upgrade these to a new style cutout but they have refused, the reason for this is the cable is to short for a new 3 phase cutout. This would mean digging up the street to extend the existing cable.

Can i insist they change this on safety grounds. these being the cores are only single insulated.

Are they cast iron, or rewirable?
Otherwise if they really want it done, dno will do anything for money i guess.

This is not up to you, if it is really bad they will correct it when they reconnect the new installation. That is their prerogative and risk.

hey ho you cant beat the system...

this is one reason why i need to get out of this industry.. no one gives a toss anymore...

how about this as a reply.. many thanks for contacting us and notifying us of a poorly installed cutout, we will be along soon as possible to put it right, sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused. we dont want an electrocution do we.. *****

Hi oldsparky, are you sure the cables aren't sheathed, i have to say it sounds unusual, is there any chance they just have red/black coloured sheaths rather than the most common grey?
