Customer has an overhead supply from a pole on their land. They are knocking down the house an building another to live in and another to sell on. They have a price from Western Power to remove the pole and bury the new supplies.

Apparently Western Power hinted to them that they could use alternative businesses to do this work.

I've not heard of this one. I just assumed you had to go with the local DNO.

Anyone else know anything about this?

Thanks
John

Have a google for "contestable work" - as I understand it things like trench digging can be done be a.n.other, possibly cable laying too - although the actual connections to the network would still have to be done by the DNO.

The connections can also be done by "A N Other" providing they are on the DNO's approved list.

Ask the local DNO for their list.

Thanks chaps. Will pass this on. I already knew about the trenching as this is clearly itemised as a possible DIY job on the Western Power forms.

Will pass on the list.

Thanks
