Hello,

I am currently working on building a hot tub (a home project of mine).

I'm planning on installing waterproof LED strip lighting around the rim of the hot tub at the top- this is clearly in the "A" zone so needs to be protected by SELV. The power supply that came with the LEDs is a 230V AC to 12V DC switch mode device. I've heard that most of these power supplies meet the SELV requirements, but how can I determine this for sure?

Look for the Class III/SELV symbol on the power supply:

Aside from the transformer it might be worth asking the supplier whether the luminaire itself is compliant with BS EN 60598-2-18

Thanks for your replies. I'm having trouble finding a suitable power supply- I can only seem to find AC lighting power supplirs that explicitly say they are SELV. Does anyone have any pointers as to where I should be looking, or am I most likely going to convert the signal to DC after the transformer?

Apologies for my noobishness- I'm no electrician.

These should be suitable:

The last 2 are quoted as IP67 and waterproof.
