Hi,
can anyone recommend some up-to-date reading/books for emergency lighting design and maintenance (apart from the BS) - something akin to the On Site Guide?

Regards.

Same format and same publisher as the OSG the IET publish 2 excellent books on FA and ELs. You can find them on this web site.

In theory most other sources are technically out of date - BS 5266 Part 1 was revised in November 2011.

Be aware also that we now have BS EN 7010 which relates to signage - whilst the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 and BS 5499 pt 4 has not been amended so the euro-signs are still legal - that will change.

For bedtime reading, you could go with the Electrician's Guide to Emergency Lighting by Paul Cook as a kick off - or the internet has numerous publications - just be wary of date issues though.

Thanks all. I was aware of the Paul Cook book, but as noted by OMS, it does not appear to have been updated in line with the 2011 changes to the BS.

I understood that there had been key changes, hence looking for something that included material relating to the latest regs.

I realise that I have come across the ICEL website before, then promptly forgotten about it!

As you will realise, I'm not well versed in EML other than basic testing and like for like replacement - I want to remedy that.

Oh and I thought the Green Book was expensive 'till I saw the price for 5266!

Thanks again.
