The smoke detectors in my house need new batteries. As they are at the end of their design life, I thought now would be the time to replace them with mains powered ones. The upstairs one is easy to do, but the downstairs will be a nightmare (i.e. not until we redecorate!).

Where's the best place to go for a system that gives a main powered wireless base and a battery-powered wireless option?

This battery powered optical version smoke alarm says that it can be interlinked to any 'RadioLINK' alarm which are normally mains powered.
