I don't think she did actually - it's my belief that it was subsequent policy that generally caused what we now see as problems - to put this into context, it's not often the lights go out to be fair, is it - it's just that we appear to have used up what capacity the older generation of area board engineers put in place

A state run concern would have reinvested into the Network and upgraded it not gave money in the form of dividends to shareholders.

I doubt it - I saw some of the reports from PWC prior to privatisation - like most of the nationalised industry it was basically a basket case economically - reports can be skewed yes, but the underlying analysis wasn't too far off in my opinion

The free market economy when applied to the utilities clearly isn't working either unless your a shareholder, its fundamentally floored as a model for supplying the masses with energy
