A rep has just dropped me off some of the new BG round edge sockets and switches. They look quite nice and a reasonable price. Has anyone used them yet . They feel quite solid. double pole socket as well. They have Nexus written over the packaging.

Yes Gary, sad to say I have had some problems with them which I've mentioned on here before. I like the whiteness of them and the little buttons to cover the screws.

I've had several of the double sockets fail on one side. The socket-and-see flags a neutral issue and the client flags it as not working.s Only a few quid to replace but there's a visit to the client involved.

I sent one back and it was returned as not faulty. It was faulty.

I like BG very much and I like their ethos but for the time being I don't use their products unless at customer request. I've a feeling that the problem lies in the quality of the brass being used. Mind you, MK aren't doing too well on that front lately either.

And, you need to strip back a bit more than usual because the terminals are quite deep and it is the screw that makes the contact complete. It is easy to screw down onto the insulation. Try it with the sample you have.

Hi Gary, use BG NEXUS as standard on domestics, good range, solid plates and as Zs has said they are a good white colour, especially when screw caps are fitted, they finish the plates off nicely especially near white architraves, skirting etc. Dimmers are fairly reliable and they produce a 500watt single module but have had to change a few, only issue I have with them is the grid range, have been using the 20 amp double pole grid switches with engraved rocker caps for kitchen equipment isolators. The grid yokes/frames are flimsy causing issues with the grid plate even in 47mm deep surface boxes. Cheers nick
