I started a new City and Guilds 2394 class tonight and I put a slide up with Regulation 610.1 on it, you know the bit about "inspection and testing during construction and on completion before being put in to service".

One student with a puzzled look on his face says, "How's that supposed to work then when I am doing board changes in flats and houses. I ring the office to get the company tester down, it might be 3 or 4 days and you can't leave people without power for that long?

He was referring to a person not an instrument.

I don't know, John.
You really should not go around making these things up.

My best one was me. I came back from my 1st year at the Essex EEB training 'school' - only I did the engineering and not the electrical craft course.
1st day sent out on a job with one of the electricians and the silly bu**er asked me to make up some pendants. Pendants? What are they?
I'm so ashamed - well not really!!

I once designed a job stating ' run 100m of cable continuously, leaving 1m loops for jointing purposes at stated intervals.

Sure, the cable was run- BAR TIGHT, with 1m lengths of cable thrown on the floor beside the run............................................
