Hi all,
I was wondering views on what I saw today and how it stands with regs. I was installing a fan in a bathroom and noticed that the recently installed electric shower was fed with two 6mm twin and earths, after asking the customer it appears the shower was fed with a 6mm then when replaced with a bigger 9.5kw shower they had used a 6mm feed from an unused en suite shower feed into a Henley block with the original in the loft then carried on to shower with a 10mm. Both 6mm's fed from same 40A mcb. Does this comply with regs or is it not a done thing, I've never seen this before so wondered how it stands. Thanks for any replies. |

I don't see why not, but a note at CU would be helpful

Nothing technically wrong as long as both cables are the same length but from what you say they are not? Also unless the run is exceptionally long the single 6mm cable would have been ok anyway!

Having read the post again it seems the two 6mm cables are the same length, both going to the Henley block and then 10mm from there to shower, all sounds a bit of a lash-up though, especially when the original 6mm would have been sufficient anyway!

I'm puzzling on how you connect two 6mm2 and one 10mm2 T&E into a henley block without leaving the core insulation exposed... - is the whole thing then put in a big enclosure?

Judging by the rest of it I doubt it Andy!
