Can anyone remind me in what situations double pole (as opposed to single pole) rcd protection must be used (caravans come to mind)?

Caravans is one, caravan sites is another, and marinas too.
Then there are situations where the N needs to be disconnected - e.g. if an RCD is used as the main switch on a domestic single phase installation. Where the RCD is downstream of another RCD and it's required to have discrimination between the two in the case of N-E faults. Where local generation can operate in parallel with the mains (e.g. a PV inverter) and the circuit the generator is connected to also supplies current consuming equipment. probably a few others too... - Andy. |
