Got a client who's had a deadline given for an asbestos survey. So they've asked me for a 'nothing in the electrics' letter.

'Not on your nelly' is my standard reply...

Now I know they've a 60's MEM board with asbestos fabric arc shields, and a 30's MEM board with asbestos tubes which you thread the wire through..

Question: Wylex 3036 boards: they've a few 90's one's and a couple of 60's ones. The 60's ones have a hard white arc shield pellet, the later ones have a grey arc shield pellet. Are either of these likely to be ACMs?

The simple rule for is asbestos is if you are not sure then you must assume it is.
Don't go near it until the client has had it tested and proved it isn't.

To answer your question, yes some of the earlier arc shield pellets were made from asbestos. Along with arc shields and some door seal ribbons of really old switch gear. As Burn suggests, best to let the experts to decide what is an what isn't ACMs.
