Were doing more and more spot down lighters in domestic extensions new builds etc.

I pet hate is trying to squeeze my hand up through 70mm holes in plasterboard and with coat hanger and metal coat hanger to try and find my 1.5mm that the joiners thrown away. Not to mention all the insulation.

Often I take pictures with camera phone to try locate my cables. There must be a handheld cctv camera with a led on end and a grab hook.

I'm 100% sure I have seen something like this before. Is it just me that seen this as I searched the internet with no joy.

Spot on Marty, Bosch GOS 10.8volt inspection came from eBay for £200 Inc vat.

Pacific is your camera up to much??? Would be interesting to see difference?

Think simple, try safely energising the circuit if possible, and use a voltage detector.

Its got me out of a couple of fixes, one was looking behind some antique panelling for the end of a cable rod, worked well, never tried another type so hard to say how good it is

Ive got a £20 usb one of ebay. Its not super high quality and its a bit of a pain to lug the laptop around atleast you get a nice large picture and does the job.

Around £100 and worth its weight in gold. If i need to hook something i use a piece of 10 or 16mm earth, bend it and tape it on the end.

Get a toner tracer the data type you can use them on dead cables and thete really good get a nice branded one ill post you a link to mine later

I find the child labour better, it doesn't need batteries although does start to moan after a few hours on site :-)

I've been considering a camera for a while as I tend to use my phone but it's a bit big at times.

The tracers are great, I brought a cheap one from Maplin years ago and it's still going strong, works ok on all sorts of things from cat 5 and telecoms upwards.

Mate for about £4 Toolstation do a small mirror on a telescopic arm with a tilting head I find this perfect for finding my downlighter cable, and looking in hard to reach places, it also has a magnet on the other end in case you drop a screw and can't get to it
