Anyone else having problems, or just me?
Or has everyone got together with the forum management to gently push me out the door? LOL. |

When replying to a post I often used to cut and paste a few words from the original post or a previous reply with a line underneath just to draw attention to what I was talking about. That has worked perfectly for the past several years but suddenly a couple of weeks ago I found none of my replies would go through. After some experimenting I found that it was caused by me putting those few words in, whether it was to do with me cutting and pasting I just don't know?

When I'm posting the message window, after clicking reply, goes blank, and presumably crashes.

That's exactly what was happening to me as I was saying earlier.
So it's only reply's that give this problem for you then, and not new posts? Dave. |

It's a little inconsistent. I have only noticed recently, so haven't noticed the whens and wheres, Dave.
Maybe they're had enough of the pair of us and we're being silently blackballed? |

I done that last one just as a test, I found it's not the copy and paste that causes the problem, it''s when I underline the first sentence. I tried underlining "quite possibly" and it wouldn't go, then I took the underline out and it went straight through. Strange though because i've been doing it that way for about six years and never found it a problem until about three weeks ago,
Dave. |

@MrOther,
Its probably because you do not practice diplomacy. I practice it regularly......................... Legh ------------------------- Why do we need Vernier Calipers when we have container ships? http://www.leghrichardson.co.uk "Science has overcome time and space. Well, Harvey has overcome not only time and space - but any objections." |

Many thanks to UKPN for drawing our attention to this thread.
We have only been able to reproduce a problem in one specific instance, which is where a posting included a very long URL in the http tags provided by the message editor. The result was that, when the message was submitted, the message-editing window was replaced by a white screen. We are investigating this, but it does not appear that all those posting here were including URLs. Please let us know whether this remains an issue. If you are having problems, please report (preferably to the Webmaster), the exact message text that you were posting, the browser (and version) that you were using, whether the problem occurs each time that you try the same message, or only intermittently, and the time and date (so that we can check logs for errors). If you get the white screen described above, it's likely that you can get back to your message editing window by holding down Alt and pressing the left arrow key. Otherwise, obviously, you may have problems in recalling the exact message that you had written. I may move this topic to the Feedback category in the next day or two, as it is likely that any problem would not be confined to this Wiring category. I do not believe that the spell check problem reported by sparkingchip was related to this submission problem. Sorry if the drifting of the pinned topics confused anyone; the system allows us to pin them for a fixed number of days, and after that, we have to get a new set of nails and a hammer out and do the job again. Apologies to all for the inconvenience that this is causing. Regards ------------------------- David Rossall The Institution of Engineering and Technology |
