It used to be the customers responsibility to notify electrical works to building regulations. Is this still the case.

As of this coming April, Item 3.8 on page 10 of the new P doc says:
"If the installer is not a registered competent person, etc......before work begins the installer must notify a building control body." http://www.planningportal.gov....r/BR_PDF_AD_P_2013.pdf |

That's an interesting one Weirdbeard, so they are putting the onus on the installer then, probably because so few homeowners bother to notify, I wonder if that will include builders etc. too? (notifying building work I mean)

It's not really a problem as all you need to do is get a cheque from customer and send in the paperwork, instead of them doing it.
Plumbers and the like do that anyway just by adding £500 to step through the door. They have reduced the number of items that need to be notified (adding a socket in a kitchen will cost half the amount it does now!), so costs to the client will come down. In fact, if all the other building regulation notifying requirements where adhered to, costs would come down. ------------------------- Norman |
