By no means am I a computer buff, nor am I telling you how to run the forum, but as this is a technical forum, it does seem sensible that the users be able to include sketches & diagrams in posts to aid understanding of grey areas.
For those who nod at approval to this suggestion please leave a positive response. **I am talking about viewing sketches that does not involve clicking on an external link** |

Would be good to be able to show diagrams, photos etc. on this forum. Most forums manage this without any problems, just limit the pixel size you can you use.

Good suggestion - I suspect the worry is spam and unsuitable content, I am sure the facility could be limited to established members, much like links.

I asked this question to the moderator a few years ago and was told that the IET forum was going to be upgraded - still waiting...
If you look at most other websites/forums, they have all the modern features such as uploading pictures, likes etc. On modern forum systems, as a moderator you can even prevent new users from posting links or pictures until they have posted a few posts and are trusted. I don't see what is holding the IET back other than inadequate IT resources to do so? Afterall, we are supposed to be part of a technology institution! ------------------------- M.I.E.T - Forfeited this due to The I.E.T's ridiculous membership rules! |

------------------------------ That's already being done on here! Dave. |

Agreed. It would be a useful facility which is available on other forums I use.

Images are now enabled. If you look in the toolbar, you'll see the fourth icon along should now be the insert image icon.
You will need to host the image elsewhere, and please be mindful that the images should be appropriate to the IET web site and not break the page layout, so try to keep to not much over 600 pixels wide. Most image hosting sites will give you the URL of different sized versions of the image. Obviously, if anyone notices images that aren't in keeping with the tone of the IET web site, please report them to the moderator. ------------------------- David Bacon Internet Services Group The Institution of Engineering and Technology |

(pity they have to be hosted elsewhere though) - Andy. Yes Hosting on site would provide longevity for the source, Image boards have a tendency to disappear leaving a forum of broken links. Can we have a second present please moderator? ------------------------- Regards Martyn. Only a mediocre person is always at their best www.electrical contractors uk.com |

Yeah bit of a pain that really - I don't want to sound ungrateful but feedback needs to be honest. |
