Evening ,

Been looking through the nic website , unsure of first year enrolment fees .

I want approved contractor ,

Do i pay a fee then monthly ?

How much is it i think its £ 550

Then 49 a month

Plus 249 half day inspection .

plus will i be able off set this against first year tax bill ?

You have to pay the assessment fee for the 1 and 1/2 day assessment then if you are successful you have to pay the annual fee. The thick end of £1000 in the 1st year.

Yes you can claim all of it as a business expense.

i will have to issue green certs for my jobs .?

Yes but I don't think they check you just need to have some work for them to inspect hence the 6th month requirement. Yes you do have to have certs. for them to inspect for the 5 jobs.

Yes my company is an NICEIC AC. I have no problem with the technical staff or my past and present Area Engineers. I do have a problem with the back office staff who I find don't respond to enquiries and are generally unhelpful. The ECA treat their contractors much better than the NICEIC. The NICEIC are very commercial although they are supposed to be a charity they act in a very hard nosed business way. Everything they provide comes with a price tag. Have a look at the ECA to see what they have to offer.

NICEIC are no longer a charity hence them trying to sell testers, software and all.
