Not done new builds flats with common sat and TV points, anyone shed some light on what type of distrabution and wiring please.

Will have to be shotgun cable to main living room and master bedrooms and normal single coaxail in bedrooms I heard.

is it having a communal dish?

I think you will need two satellite cables to each flat, plus one for the aerial for dtv etc, so three to the main point, then distribute it as you would a house.

its a bit more complex at the head end, as the STB changes the LNB from horizontal to vertical, which is why sky plus needs two cables to the dish. in a communal install its obviously a lot more complicated.

I think you have to send a protective bonding cable up to the communal aerial as well from memory. And a dedicated power supply.

Stop using standard coax.

Use sat cable for everything, it will save any hassle in the future and give the installation more resistance to interference etc

Yeah will be comunual disk etc, I'm just wondering how to wire it, there will have to be a twin sat cable ran from communal loft space to each living room, however I'm unsure if bedroom shall be ran from living room in a radial round rest of TV points or two spurred from living room or a individual booster in each flat.

Use CT100/ WF100 for all points

Run 3x coax to main plate in each dwelling

1 sat1
2 sat2 + tv/fm/dab
3 return

Any additional points in each dwelling require only 1 coax from the main position - However if you want the ability for sky plus in other rooms later run 2

1 sat1
2 spare

You should also run a pair of cat5/6 to each point.

That's bang on martyn. Ct100 does all systems and the wiring advice is totally correct. But check with the aerial installer where it all needs to go to. Sometimes they want it all up to the loft and they wire a spine cable. Sometimes they want to put booster, and need a spur, to each flat. Don't take the responsibility, get them to tell you there requirements in writing. I believe it's called passing the buck. This doesn't demonstrate your ignorance, it indicates there ability.

I agree here, there are several ways of doing it so I would get a spec from the satellite guys and first fix to that.
