Has anyone had experience of this range, is it any good?

Yes, we've used it and it works well.
It's been used domestic and in a large warehouse where the receiver was connected to a contactor to switch 4 x 400w highbays Stu |

Used them in several large houses with expensive decorations and awkward cornices to get behind. Not cheap but far cheaper than chopping out a wall, replastering, redecorating, lifting expensive carpets, getting a decent carpet fitter to relay carpet etc etc.

Had a demo of these a few months ago, we used them at a hospital where the client changed the switching requirements for the lights after everything was already built. They did the trick and were cheaper than ripping the walls off.

I want something that can operate in open air about 50m, with a remote transmitter that can switch a pair of volt free contacts. Im just switching a supply from a car battery that operated a clay pidgeon firing mechanism in a field with no mains supply Anyone know if the MK Echo can operate like that or do you need mains at the receiver?

shouldn't be too tricky to build something..... I know allen and bradley make 12v DC single shot pulse timers. that would give you your volt free pulse switch. I would make up a 555 timer circuit and then interface with a 12V RF receiver. jobs a gooden. :-)

Echo needs mains.
Look at RF solutions website. They do exactly what you need. We've used their kit loads of times for remote control of all sorts of things from gates, through floodlights even Christmas tree lights. Stu |
