Hi all
I have a problem with a condensing dryer that keeps tripping the RCD.
It started at first with the thermal cutout kept tripping so I gave it a internal clean as it was pretty dusted up inside this seem to cure the problem for a while, however it started tripping the rcd this time and not the thermal cut out so I gave the element an hoover out again it seemed ok, then same tripping problem two weeks later but it started with the bottle full neon on so the dryer wont run, I bridged out the bottle switch and it again tripped the rcd, this time I have disconnected the thermostat and its running fine with no tripping so my guess is the stat as gone.
My question is it ok to bridge out the stat untill I can get a replacement and will it be safe ?

I think you've answered your own question with the fact it's a thermostat (or thermal cutout)

What's going to stop the machine overheating and burning the clothes if something doesn't go to plan once you've shorted the stat out ??

It's common on the Creda and WHiteKnight/Crosslee clones ( the ones with spiral wire elements) that the condensate lift pump fails and the air blast throws water on to the elements and TOCs. You think new TOCs cures it, but the water wicks into the mica element spacers and causes random trips. Element kits are cheap enough.

Or the house! Most kitchen fires are due to a pan left on a hob. Next, fires in tumble driers!

Yes Jay cleaned every thing.
Its definetly the inlet stat and Stu just giving me a reminder of what not to do, Its a nightmare without a dryer though this time of year : (
