All I hear, from scheme members, is that the public do not know who any of the schemes are and what they do but have heard them say the public recognise Gas-safe and that it is these who you call for competent gas work to be carried out.

As far as i can see, whether it is a good thing or not, this is what Electric safe is all about. Mainly a one stop shop for a registered, and hopefully 'competent', electrician.

As long as its free then whats the beef.

Well if it`s free I`ll join.
Let`s face it, none of the schemes nor the office of the deputy frog have done much to promote Part P to the public like Gas Safe or Corgi before them did.

It still comes back to the old chestnut that no matter how many names we give it or how many scheme providers there are, the whole thing is a sham until there is decent enforcement action against people doing their own work and not notifying.

We were under the impression that this is comparable to all the other 'find a competent tradesmen' sites out there, the cost would depend on your level of participation, perhaps free for a one liner amongst hundreds of others but for a panel or banner advert there will no doubt be a cost to bear, to align your trade with the GSR is erroneous and does have its problems, you have to remember that the Gas Act relates to the gas connection and everything else around it comes under the Building Regulations and notification, if you want to make similarities to it in your trade, well the DNO is responsible under the Electricity Act for the connection and everything else you do comes under the Building Regulations and notification.

I suspect these initiatives are as a result of uncertainty and desperation for a number of reasons, the membership numbers are rapidly declining and the uncertainty of the outcome of Part P, could it be revocation (liberal way) or cutting the cost to consumers and small businesses and trimming what is notifiable work (tory way).
