hi
I came across an old TPN metal service head complete with rubber tails in which are in a poor condition on a job , do Western Power Distribution still change thse free of charge? Regards |

we had one changed last year in totnes - they insisted on replacing the feeder and the cutout - and invoiced the customer. good job done though.

I expect nothing now is done free of charge, unless you can show the suppliers tails are dangerous.

Oh yes it is, they have a duty to keep their equipment in good order. Words such as burning, crackling and the ESQCR might get things moving, last time I said there was a burning smell (we could see the smoke and the bitumen was dripping) they were out in an hour, but had to wait until 3 in the morning to ***** the block off (3 phase head)

The rubber meter tails coming out of the very old service head have got cracks in the insulation , why should the consumer pay for it if it belongs to the distributor
|

----------the rubber tails are unsatisfactory, the metal service head may have years of good service left.
only if it is embargoed, ie asbestos, phase barriers missing, poor condition, will it be changed. Regards. |
