Anyone know how a modern ampy dual rate 3 phase import meter in a domestic setting behaves when exporting on some phases and importing on another?
For example let us say I am generating 1kW on each phase from solar pv with no domestic baseload. On one phase (say L3) I then switch on a 2kW load. That means: L1 - exporting 1kW L2 - exporting 1kW L3 - importing 1kW So net I am exporting 1kW. Will the meter: - increment at a rate of 1kW because that is what is happening on one of the phases; or - remain still because of the net export (because it cannot go backwards)? |

It all depends how it is configured. The Meter Operator should ensure that the meter is correctly configured when they / the DNO are notified of the PV connection. It may read 1kW export, it could read zero, or it could read 1kW import. It may also set a flag for the Meter Operator when it is next read.

It certainly shows 'RED' like most modern meters I have seen in this area. I guess I'll have to do some experiments.
