Anybody planning on going to Elex at Coventry today?

We (ETS) went yesterday and it was pretty good all round.

If you don't behave i may just post up a picture of Chubby with Tony Cable!

Yes, I went yesterday too. I was mainly looking at the various Surge Protection suppliers, 3 were there, Dehn and Hager very similar, SPD Ltd had a different take on things, in that they supply a single gang SPD, in the form of an MCB in the CU, but it needs to be fed from a MCB, so is a double unit really. The other 2 have theirs as double unit, and say it is best as a separate box, like in a shower type enclosure.

The recycle bin got a load of paper this morning, most of the bumf given out was junked. It looks like it may have been worthwhile having a day off work, as if I move schemes, I'll be getting a one-off £300 discount next year, I told my current scheme what I'd been offered, they said they would not even compete, so it looks like I'll be moving.

What I would like is some PV training, not that I want to do it, but would like to know about it. Have you thought about doing that?
There was a chap from Chesterfield extolling the virtues of their courses, I may be tempted to do one if other nearby places dont do such a course.

Us Southern softies will be going to the ELEX at Sandown Park in November on the Friday. We may forgo our cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off for the free bacon roll.

Speak for yourself softy. It was superb. I came away with the shopping list fulfilled, free GN8, promises of reps to come out and help with specific queries, a full-on pledge from Amtech to look into my queries about their software issues, a very decent link-up with PE magazine, and a marriage proposal from a random stranger. Sorry I missed you briggsy.

The IET/ESC are doing presentations about the importance of proper testing following the Emma shaw case. I'm afraid I only looked in on a bit of it but was amazed by some of the questions being asked. Aurora have become much more sedate and professional and now have their bus manned by smart fellas in suits.

Not least, curry with a big group of sparkies on Thursday was nice but all round, worth the trip to elex this year.
