Cant find the box Ii used several years ago..

I have several double boarded (25mm) walls which is constructed from 50mm gyproc studs, Fast fix boxes are OK but no way to gland the 25mm flexi conduit as they have a square KO. cannot fix standard boxes in a secure way.

Back in 2000 I was using a fast fix like box which was circa 60mm deep It had two top and two bottom holes of 25mm each.

Does anyone recall the brand or an alternative solution?

Martyn

I always spec these, but shop around as they can be pricey in the wrong wholesaler.

I'm with Jobbo. We've taken to using those on all stud work if possible, much better than fast fix boxes IMO.

Cheers

I attempted that today, no room, even with a 47mm box there is only 20mm left showing in the wall.

I take it that these would work on stud walls too?

Unfortunately its a too late the walls are boarded one side but I will certainly be using them in future!

Any idea on a sensible cost?

Maybe come into the back of the box using right angle bends as F M suggested?

The walls are only 50mm internally, and I think it would be one T&E cable per bend in those things.

I was looking at box extenders and fixing battens to the side of standard boxes, then screwing through the plasterboard to the batten - certainly strong enough but a real palaver!

Do you really need to bring the flexi conduit into the boxes Martyn? (i'm assuming it's plastic)

The caddy things will work from the back, just pull the out to length, fix the box to it, and bend the fins backwards, screw through the sides, and hammer back the excess meal overhanging.

Or fit the box to a noggin and do it that way?

Now that's an idea, will have to be a 47mm box though, I've not seen a 25mm FF box for double board.

Sounds a bit ott to me Martyn, surely you could bring the flexi right up to the box, not as if it's on show and aethetics are involved is it!

I'm shopping !

How thick are the caddy studs? I was looking at timber but the walls are so thin it was more like paper than timber!
