hi guys, ive just been facebooked by one of my aunties who has helped a neighbour out by fitting a wire less doorbell for her. trouble is it rings her bell as well. i pressume they have logged in on the same frequency ? is there a way of changing this ? i don't know if they are the same make. i have suggested she remove the battery from the push and unplug inside and try and set it up again. any other ideas?

Thanks Gary

Some of the cheaper ones do Gary,

A mate of mine in the trade always knew when I'd pulled up outside because my remote locking on the previous van triggered the door bell.

I'd go with a re-setup to start with, but you might find she needs a different make of bell

I think most of them have an alternative channel available, i'm fairly sure Friedland do, usualy just a jumper to swap over,

I installed a battery doorbell in my own house, a few years ago. I didn't realise my bellpush also rang next door's bell, until standing at the front door testing after I replaced the battery, there was much consternation when their door was opened, and complaints that no body was there ..... again!

This must have went on for over a year!, and their pushbutton didn't operate mine. I didn't say a word but oh, how we laughed!

I changed the code switches after that, for a different frequency. I had problems with kids pushing the bell at the time, I saw one running away with the bell push that he had pulled off the wall. I installed a door viewer after that with telephone and camera.

Regards

I find a metal bell push and an electric fence energiser solves the problem of the local kids, it also nicely stops door to door salesmen, unwelcome guests, annoying relatives etc,etc ;-)

Ah, the battery operated remote door bell.

Do you remember knock and run? You drew straws as to which of you was to knock on the door, the loser knocked and then you all ran like hell while the door was answered to nobody.

Since the advent of Friedland.... you nick the bell-press from it's sticky back plastic backing, you go to the bus stop across the road and you press it. Stand nonchalantly as if waiting for a bus and watch the door being opened by a mystified occupant. Then let them settle down in front of the telly again and press it again.

At least we could run like hell.....

Gary, one of my clients is always at his front door before I have rung the bell and it is my van lock. You need to re code it but in the case of Mr Jones, he likes knowing when his neighbours are back home. He wouldn't let me change that issue but I did manage to sort a different ring-tone for the real front door bell.

LoL - I guess that's why we didn't have a generation of obese kids - apart from the obligatory fat kid that every school had to have of course - we kept fit playing knock down ginger !!

Most wireless operated switches used the 433MHz carrier frequency but this has changed to 866MHz, presumably to increase the bandwidth of signals available.
I have found problems with car alarms, automatic locking mechanisms and 3rd party key fobs as well as passing vehicles.

Slightly differently, I think Dimplex electric heaters used to have dip switch settings that allowed individual programming, but if a heating/electrical company installed a group of them on a housing estate then the timings for one house would automatically switch on others in near properties.

Brings back memories. We called it 'Thunder & Lightning'. Thunder on the door and run like lightning.

I can't run a bath now without getting out of breath!

Our cheap & nasty doorbell has a small switch inside the receiver to change channels...

In Scotland, it was known by us kids as KDRF, Kick Door, Run Fast. We played rounders then, the forerunner of American baseball, it originated in Scotland. Then there was the Gir and Cleek, Whip and Peerie, Kick the Can .......... and Bulls and Coos.
