I have a customer who insists that she wants a metal fronted light switch although the lighting circuit does not have a cpc. Many years ago you used to be able to purchase a plastic (class II) switch with a push on metal cover that did not require earthing. Does anyone know if these, or any other class II metal light switches, are available?

Either run a new cable, run a new cpc or tell her your profession involves her safety. You can get the new slimlines plastic back, metal front, bit they are still attached with metal screws that could come in contact. If the cabling is that old, perhaps it is time to look at the rest of the installation and upgrade?

The install must 45 years+ old, so your customer has a choice, plastic switch with nylon lugged box or rewire, or you walk away and Burt down the pub does it in his lunch hour and just leaves it without a CPC
