Seven more Improvement Notices were served by HSE after an electrical specialist found an eight-month-old report from a separate company had revealed 70 defects on the electrical system, seven of them requiring urgent attention. Not one of the faults had been acted upon. Seems entirely reasonable to me. If an employer knows that there are dangers present they have an obligation to rectify the situation & should not compalin when they get fined for not doing so. |

I am surprised they even has a PIR. I have been back to I&T premises years after I first PIRed them and found exactly the same defects not rectified. These companies get a PIR/EICR as a condition of their insurance and do no remedial work after which to me is a bit like a do it yourself hang mans kit.

It maybe a good idea for any company undertaking EICR's to include a copy this report in with their EICR in order to highlight what could happen should their clients not fulfill their duty of care!
I know it could be seen as scare mongering but the EAWR has been with us since 1989 and employers are still unaware of their responsibilities. Keith |
