I was just swatting up on the questions as I am doing the test again to renew my ECS card and i saw this question..
When judging "individual capability" for manual handling, you should assume: A: All women are equally capable B: Young men are weak C: All people are different D: All men are equally capable I need to remember I am doing an ECS test not an Equal Opportunities test! ------------------------- John Peckham http://www.astutetechnicalservices.co.uk/ |

It is a reasonably fair question and the answer is there, but more study might be appropriate, try;
http://www.hse.gov.uk/contact/faqs/manualhandling.htm for starters. regards ------------------------- "Take nothing but a picture, leave nothing but footprints!" ------------------------- "Oh! I think the only logical answer would be C, after all, all people are different aren't they?

Is that one of those life boat canoes rocknroll? Do you mean is it unsinkable, yes it does have small compartments filled with foam, its a P&H Capella ocean kayak, I do have a couple of others as well. regards ------------------------- "Take nothing but a picture, leave nothing but footprints!" ------------------------- "Oh! Last one I did of those not that long ago (for renewal of the JIB card), the spark beside me went tick, tick, and tick and was finished in an amazing 10 minutes. This unsettled me and not realise I was ticking the question form, instead of the answer sheet,. Luckily had brought a pencil and rubber, intending to rub out any wrongs, as you always have time to go over the questions, but trying to hide all the rubbing out from the invigilator took some doing, Hope the next candidate who gets the same exam paper does not go with my answers. I did 17 modules of this type of stuff for the big H & S, but an easy one such as this can be just as sore on the nerves if you do not prepare.
Prob will get the coiled up cable, on the drum question, and Ladder out ratio. but that's all I am giving away. Regards jcm |

Ahh the good old ECS test, more like a memory test if you ask me
Do these questions never change? Taken 4 of these now over the course of the years, for my JIB cards and the questions are still the same! Providing you remember, send for the first aider and tell your supervisor, you're passed Thinks that's why most people complete them in 5 mins these days So what you think of the electrical questions? Did they not specify whether it was a coal, gas or electric fire (and if electric then how many bars) ?

It is funny how they have answers that you would actually do. I remember a question regarding cutting yourself on site, with on answer stating, wrap it with insulation tape and carry on

That's rubbish, Brucie, how can all women (or all men for that matter) be equally capable? Would a woman with only one leg or one arm be "equally capable" as a non-disabled person of manual handling?

I did send an apology Brucie saying that I thought we were still on the original question but it seems to have got lost!
