Hello all
Just installed 9 LED lamps ( good quality) in a kitchen on a dimmer. When (dimmable) lamps are dimmed and the kettle is switched on the lamps all dim of their own accord. The original lamps I had installed went out all together. This does not happen though when lights are at full capacity. Occasionaly the lamps go into overide and have a disco!
I've changed the lamps, dimmer module, mcb and kettle and it is still happening. Im guessing that the surge of the 3 kw kettle is interupting the power to the LEDs but does anyone know how I can stop this happening?

Any ideas welcome

Check the volt-drop when the kettle is switched on!

Check for loose connections in consumer unit on the supply side, high resistance connections between tails and main switch etc. will cause excessive volt-drop. Might be worth checking tails size too, maybe only 10.00mm and/or long run?

I am assuming that you are using the correct type of dimmer for the LED modules - they should specify whether you need a "leading edge" or "trailing edge" dimmer.

Regards,

Alan.

Ben. You need a filter. Contact the manufacturer of the light fittings.

Mike.
