What are the current thoughts on the smallest solution for short circuit protection on long tails, I usually use a Wylex CM160 unit, but in this case it is far too big.

I am looking for something like a fused version of the REC2s.

You could use your REC2 with a 2 way housing with a 63 A mcb or an inline wylex as they use for economy 7 of appropiate size but if you are using swa an adaptable box would have to come in play here. JUst some ideas.

I have used one of these a few months ago and I can't fault it for what it is!

For sub 20 quid I was very impressed with it, even though I was fighting 25mm SWA into it through an adaptable box! Double screwed terminals from memory although I could be making that up!
Apparently you can fit it nicely into an external meter box.

Cheers guys, The TLC switch fuse is still too big.

I was today thinking about just that solution Andy, I think I can fit that in to a MC enclosure for the swa and a separate REC2s for the single isolation point.

Cant really use an MCB for selectivity purposes.

I am on the end of a 6m swa which starts outside I'm sure I could manage to get a connection somewhere else but it would be a bit inappropriately located in this instance.

Update.

I ended up using a 3*3 wiska box with a Henley series 7 fuse carrier & 60A fuse sat directly on top.

The Series 7 fuse carrier was a chore to find a supplier but I ended up Here
