although 2391 exams are continuing for retakes, they are based on out of date regulations, red book BS7671 2008
2392 is to continue as long as there is demand. having looked at the sylabus of the new level 3 (thats equivalent to A level) 2394 and 2395 both based on the new green amended BS7671 2008 (2011), the 2394 is almost the same as the old 2391 with four practical assessments including a three phase commercial and a written paper and a multi choice paper, the new 2395 will be harder than the old 2391, now with fault finding. so anyone who thinks the two new courses are to make things easier is wrong. now candidates will get twicw the tuition as it's now two courses. if you haven't done testing before it's still a good idea to start with the 2392, better still do an apprenticeship and learn the trade properly
if you have already passed the 2391 there is no requirement to do the new versions

has anyone got details of the new 2394 written paper booked for April 4th, I think we should all email student services at city and guilds asking for details, why aren't they giving out details? how long is it? what is the format? short questions and long questions???

Not quite. The 2394 is L3, the 2392 was L2.
The 2396 is L4, the 2391.20/2400 was L3.
The scheme handbooks are downloadable from the C&G website if you need further info.
Regards
Marc
The current 2391 exams are NOT based on the red book, but amendment 1 (green). Do not refer to periodic report forms. They are EICR now, trust me..

hey marclambert

they advisor was saying that the 2394 which is now a level 3 it is for periodic inspection and that its is the new 2392,

he goes its just the level and format of course's have changed where 2391-20 level 3 is now 2396 level 4,

2391-10 is staying the same,

spoke to an advisor from city and guilds he told me the same thing, i spoke to him about the hand book of city and guilds they go its not the final say they will make changes to it at yet.

but was saying that its correct what NIC advisor was saying i explained it to the city and guilds advisor he was saying that is correct.
