I'm installing an internal flush fitted fireproof meter housing. It was supplied with a plated copper strip about 0.7m long and 2cm wide.
The strip appears to fit between two slots in the sides of the housing such that it sits flat against the back board. Does anybody know what it's purpose is? If it's needed I need to insert it before fixing the housing in the prepared recess. |

If its the metal strip I am thinking about that is longer than the width of the box, is it not to feed into the cavity each side once you put the box in the hole to stop it from falling out.

Yes that sounds like it. I was worried I'd get the supply company in to fit the meter and they would walk away because I hadn't fitted it. In fact I've got a solid stone wall to deal with so it can go in the bin. Maybe it's not copper then |

It is for metal clad buildings to strap to it from the box gives a good connection.
