Close enough to home for me (Cambridge that is not the Antarctic).... Not sure my hip would like the periods of exposure to cold after last years mishap.
I'll stick to my pigs and chickens Stu |

Probaly easier and cheaper to park your car in the Antartic than Cambridge.

I met a couple from there in 2004 (A carpenter and a hairdresser) when I was diving on the barrier reef - apparently they suffer from lack of vitimin D in the winter months and loose thier short term memory....so get sent to the sunniest climes to be found on thier time off - places like the barrier reef....
As I love the big lonely places, I'd love it I think...... John.... It does say that parking is free! (Further down the advert) |

I looked at a vacancy for this job a few years ago and the pay was much better. It seems relatively low now considering the responsibility you have. I suppose the accomodation and experience would more than make up for it though :-)

Thirty five years ago I had the application forms to fill in to go down and patch their sheds up, I completed the forms then never posted them as I thought I was in love with a lovely young girl, with hind sight I should have posted the forms!

A friend of mine who is also an electrician spent a couple of years down there after answering an ad in the Daily Mirror of all places.
He said their principle duties were to ensure the generators kept going. Nothing too strenuous - the rest of his time was spent skiddew racing across the ice packs to alleviate the endless boredom! He did love it though. ------------------------- Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end. |
