Whether copies may be made and circulated depends on the position taken by the copyright owners. Except where the copyright owners have indicated that it is permitted, we are asking that you do not use these forums as a medium for passing on copyright material.
In practice, many examination papers will carry the opposite statement, specifically forbidding copying. Hope this helps. Regards ------------------------- David Rossall Manager, Internet Services Group The Institution of Engineering and Technology |

Rip- A remix manifesto I note the OP and have no wish to jeapordise the IET or this forum. Would I, in fact, be committing a criminal offence by watching and, in order to do so, downloading that excellent film? I don't think most would have difficulty understanding why copyrights and patents are granted in order that the investment required to bring an idea to market can be secured. I'm not sure though, how many people really appreciate the value of a free exchange of ideas, or how stifling the concept of intellectual property can be. It is important to realise though, that patents and copyrights represent temporary exemption from the laws that most would agree are required in order for commerce to flourish. ------------------------- Chris Matheson MInstMC |
