What if a cable has more than one relevant installation method?

E.g - First 10 mts of cable run in an insulated wall then clipped direct for remaining 10 mts.

I'm doing a periodic and it's a 40 amp MCB but 6mm2 cable. Some reference methods allow this, some don't.

Should you go by a 'worst case scenario' ?

Yes

If more than one installation method, you should go by the worst case method.
you also put the worst case reference method in the box on the EIC or PIR on the schedule of thst results.

I normally list both eg 102/C but obviously apply the worst case for cable selection.

Yes I always go by the worst case too...

Experience can sometimes show that cost prevails over quality and safety, such little self-value that people hold.
