Here's a quote from a fan manufacturers latest catalogue (2009-2010) that I received today:
"Under NICEIC Wiring Regulations bathrooms represent an increased electrical hazard". The adjacent diagram showing bathroom zones isn't correct either and still shows parts of zone 2 which were deleted in the 17th edition. |

Not surprising - I have lost count of the number of times over the years I have seen statements such as '...electrical installation to comply with NICEIC regulations'.
I think a manufacturer or wholesaler made this error when the 17th Edition was published, heralding it as '...published by NICEIC...' on their publicity material before being pulled up on it! ------------------------- Ross Currie TMIET |

Bit like the 17th edition fusebox.
Mind you I do like to point out that the wiring regulations are nothing of the sort as it's now a British Standard called 7671:2008 and not a regulation. Perhaps we ought to put CE on everything - it has as much meaning in the real word. ------------------------- Norman |

My big red book still has IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition on the front cover. ------------------------- John Peckham http://www.astutetechnicalservices.co.uk/ |

That's strange, so has mine (but I don't let them see it!).
Still like the CE mark idea, though. Lot's of self certifying and only get caught if something goes wrong. Hang on, isn't like the................. ------------------------- Norman |
