Good Morning all.
Hope someone can help. Can anyone tell me if the Stoage Heaters made by FGS Storad models SH924 & COH954 contain asbestos. Research on the www does not yield any information for these particular heaters. The manufacturer has long since gone out of business. Thanks for any help. Regards Mike |

If it does, what are you proposing?
I'm afraid when you get to my age, care is the best solution. Most storage heaters I've seen have an obvious asbestos board underneath the blocks if at all. ------------------------- Norman |

Do what I do normally.
Cut off the wiring and have a specialist asbestos removal company come in and remove the heater prior to installing the new ones. Asbestos exposure causes Mesothelemia & it only takes one or two fibres to start & it can take up to 25-40 years to kill - this is a silent & painful killer. Regards Mike |

Those storad`s contain no asbestos, storads that do are DL8/11, DL83, S8/11/83, XL83 and they have Caposil base insulation. Also spare parts are still available for the models that you have quoted.

Thank you. I've been unable to find parts for these two. Where do you get the parts from? Regards Mike |

Thank you. I can now offer the customer an alternative to replacement. Hopefully, they will go for repair instead of replacement - laminate flooring in both rooms. Heater feet under the flooring - nightmare Regards Mike |

All you need to know here, http://www.aic.org.uk/Storageheaters.htm
Those two are not listed under storad so i would say no. There is a enquiry No at the bottom of the list Edited: 07 February 2009 at 01:10 PM by RRichard |

Do what I do normally. Cut off the wiring and have a specialist asbestos removal company come in and remove the heater prior to installing the new ones. How much does this service typically cost per heater removed? The company that I have used in the past, have previously charged anything from £150 to £500 + VATdepending on how many heaters are involved and how they are fixed to the wall / floor. RRichard Thanks for the info. I already have a copy of that list from another source. Regards Mike Edited: 07 February 2009 at 07:19 PM by michaelbrett |
