Hello All,

I have been approached by a job agency that has a local council college vacancy for an Electrical Installation Lecturer. (Level 2). The students are aged between 16 and 18 years. I have been asked to disclose any criminal convictions.

Should I ask about any criminal convictions of the potential students that I will be teaching before I take on the job?

Z.

You will need to have a DBS check as you will be working with young people. You may also have to get a Safegaurding qualification. No great problem I have an NVQ2 qualification in this and it was an on line multiple guess test that took be an hour, I assume if I did another hour I could get an NVQ3!

My Dad since being retired has been teaching people to canoe.
A couple of years ago he was required to take a DBS check because one of his classes was for pensioners (vulnerable people).
He was 76 at the time.
