Morning all,
Does anyone know how the zones were derived with regard to the actual distances?

Thanks in advance.

From considerations of increased shock risk, detrimental influence, step and touch potentials - bit like rooms containing a bath or shower

Basically, "arms reach"

Thanks OMS. I know it seems obvious but just doing a RA on some 230v equipment that encroaches into Zone 1 by a few centimetres in the horizontal and vertical planes.

OMG - fail it, shut it down straight away, evacuate now

Clearly not good design but probably not immediately dangerous - share that RA though, you don't want to be the man who said it's fine the day before a fatality - it needs to be a collective decision owned by the responsible person
