Hello, everyone. I'm new here.
Recently, I've read some articles about wind towers, it seems like the Link Removed keep growing quickly.
Wind energy is one of the most important clean energy for us. I am definitely a supporter of wind energy and building wind farms. But will the tower height grow? The wind tower welding technology must sustain larger collapsing force. Can a 200-meter tall wind tower have the same stiffness with a 100-meter tall wind tower?

Welcome Molly.
There are many limitations on the size of towers. The blades of the turbine are the primary stiffness problem, as they must be slender and aerodynamic to extract maximum energy from the wind. Building structures much larger than 200m are common, but are expensive. The size decision is primarily an economic one, more slightly smaller structures might well cost less, and the cost of failure would be less. It is not welding which is the limitation, modern welding techniques allow weld strength to be at least as good as the base metal.
