I am currently working on a Uni project about the failure of a well-known bridge in the USA which was used for rail transportation for 50yrs. I want to estimate the extent of cyclical fatigue incurred, by modelling a typical train moving over the bridge, but wondered if anyone can offer insight on how to obtain best results?
Methods considered thus far:
I was going to use analysis such as Euler buckling eqn. and perhaps illustrate results through a Fatigue Calculator, as well as draw up a bending moment diagram.
