Hi,
I graduated in the early 90's with 2:1 degree from UMIST in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. After that I predictably ended up going down the route of becoming a computer programmer. That paid well for about 7 or so years after which I "retired" to become a self employed electrician. Now at 37 with a young family i'm exploring the possibilities of re-starting a professional career. My specific interest is power distribution networks and generation schemes. What possibilities exist for me given that some of my academic skills may be a little rusty by now but I have a huge amount of life experience behind me. Any advice or experience appreciated. |

No, but you may have to take a pay cut!
Most of the DNO's and National Grid run 'Engineering Devolopment Programmes' where they take people with Electrical knowledge and experiance, and fast track them into Enginering roles, usually Field Engineers. I know the company I work for has taken a few Engineering graduates who went off to work in other areas. Feel free to PM me for further info. Simon |
