Hi Guys,

I am a bit confused with the No Load(open circuit) calculation for the transformer. My lecturer says to calculate Ro and Xo as follows

Zo= Vo/ Io were Vo= input voltage and Io= primary current
then using phasors,

Ro = Zo cos0 and
Xo = Zo sin0 were 0 is the angle theeta( apologies for spelling theeta)

I thought this could be wrong because calculating backwards does not add up.

From my personal research work I think as follows

Ro =V^2/ Po, and on calculting reactive power Qo

Xo= V^2/ Qo or other method

Ic = Io cos0 = core loss current
Im= Io sin0= magnetizing current

then Ro= V/ Ic and
Xo= V/ Im

I desperately need your help on this one so I can finish off my lab work
