05 January 2012 12:49 AM Gruff Posts: 71 Joined: 18 December 2010 I've had a quick go at your problem Mooney and I get a similar answer but out by one order of magnitude (what's that between friends!). This could be because I'm completely wrong, or because we agree and one of us has just misplaced a decimal point by one. It's a long time since I've done these and had to resort to Wikipedia to get me going, so no promises that I'm correct, but hopefully a look at how I did it may be helpful. I started with the change of width formula here: Poissons Ratio Width Change Forrmula Rearranging that allows calculation of change in length (Delta L). With Delta L we can calc Strain, which gives Stress, which finally gives Force. I get F = 2.09MN My full working is here: Working pdf Hope that helps. PS, my apologies to Gus: I'm mechanical, not electrical, and not the best person to help with the AC voltage problem. Fingers crossed someone else will be along before long. Cheers Gruff for taking the time out to work it all out too. I've used similar methods to yourself and also referred to Wikipedia for formulas etc..... Thanks again! Time to tackle question number 2 now which looks like a testing one! 24 February 2012 08:07 AM youusf Posts: 1 Joined: 24 February 2012 HI can some one help me pls in my first TMA ENGINEERING SCIENCE am facing difficulty in q2&q3 yousuf 08 March 2012 11:26 PM alanr1973 Posts: 2 Joined: 21 September 2008 Has anyone done Electrical Services Module as I am currently on this? I've succesfuly completed analytical methods and Engineering science. I've nearly completed Mechanical Principles, but getting very stuck with the last TMA. Any help from anyone would be much appreciated. Also if anyone else wants any help with the first 2 modules, let me know. 19 April 2012 05:52 PM Mooneymagic Posts: 13 Joined: 18 January 2011 Originally posted by: jamesrowe1234 Hi all, new to the forum. I have just finished year 1 of a HNC in Manufacturing engineering and am planning to transfer to the HNC Mechanical at COLU in the next 2 weeks. I understand I can use my completed units in Analytical Methods & Eng Science so that means I have 6 units left to complete. I just wanted to know how long each unit takes roughly, as I am planning on changing career and just wanted to see how long it was taking everyone else to complete their units. Thanks in advance and look forward to using this forum to exchange ideas soon! Cheers. 19 June 2012 08:28 PM mattyh3 Posts: 2 Joined: 19 June 2012 hi everyone.. just joined this forum for some help off people that are doing the hnc electrical/electronic engineering.. had my engineering science about a week now and just got to lesson 4 theory of bending and it has brought me to a brick wall lol... am not understanding where its getting these X10-12 or X10 power 9 or X10-3 know its coming from newtons theory but some equation it just seems to be chucked it with no explanation to why its there..... 22 June 2012 12:12 PM Moranovich Posts: 3 Joined: 08 June 2012 Hello mattyh3 I have an Engineering Science pdf that explains bending moments I can email it to you if you like - sent my application away last Wednesday for HNC Mech engineering so just waiting to hear back. My email is (pmoran23@hotmail.com) Regards. 08 July 2012 11:07 AM mattyh3 Posts: 2 Joined: 19 June 2012 hi is there anyone that can help with engineering science TMA 1 Q3 seem to be struggling with these after finding Q1and Q2 easyish but 3 has just stopped me dead with not been sure where to start etc,, lesson books dont seem to be a great help with this one... any kind of help would be great.. my email is matthew.harrison1@ntlworld.com if anyone can share ideas thanks matt Edited: 11 July 2012 at 09:37 PM by mattyh3 19 July 2012 04:19 PM jakefez Posts: 1 Joined: 19 July 2012 Hello ladies and gents has any one completed the PLC module or attempted it as i have got a few issues i could do with sharing notes and ideas i have previously completed AM and science
