Lenzie Academy win at Faraday Challenge Final!
Pupils from Lenzie Academy in Scotland were celebrating on March 5th as they won the Faraday Engineering Challenge Final at the Big Bang fair in London.

We think these teams were amazing; their responses to a difficult challenge illustrated excellent skills and sound understanding of scientific principles. This initiative demonstrated that learning in an applied context can produce wonderful results. Congratulations to the winners and to all the schools who took part in the Challenge Days - Well done!

And the Challenge Days Top 10 are...
Congratulations go to Monmouth Comprehensive, Newbridge Comprehensive and Lenzie Academy for their top 3 placings. Take a look at the final Top 10 placings.

They gain automatic entry to the National Final at the first Young Scientists and Engineers fair in March 2009. They receive overnight accommodation, sight-seeing tours of London and Nintendo Wii and games. The overall winners will receive a trophy, places on a 3 day Smallpeice Trust course and £1000 towards science, design and technology, and maths equipment.

Thanks go to the teachers, university student/graduate volunteers, IET Faraday Engineer and Local Network volunteers for making these Challenge Days so successful.

de Ferrers Technology College in the Top 10 with 161 points
The Top 10 has changed again! de Ferrers have gone straight in at number 6, with 161 points.

Now it all depends on the final Challenge Day score to see if Lenzie Academy remain in the top 3.

Harrop Fold College take joint 6th position
Harrop Fold Specialist Arts College have come in taking joint 6th position, knocking Wildern (158) out of the Top 10.

How will the remaining two results affect the Top 10?!

Caludon Castle (Business and Enterprise) School scored 160 points, knocking St Leonards out of the Top 10.

Paisley Grammar misses out on Top 10
Paisley Grammar obtained the top score on the 5th February Challenge Day, with 155 points. They just missed out on the Top 10.
