Yep, electric cars are a thing of the past, even before they have really taken off. Forget Dyson's claim that he will "drive a unique electric car onto the market by 2020".

The way to go is the electric drone taxi. Dubai has completed a test flight of the world's first pilotless flying electric taxi. The taxi stand at just over 2m high. It can carry two passengers. It is powered by 18 inch rotor blades of approximately 18 in number, the photo is a bit fuzzy. The remote controlled machine can fly at up to 60 m.p.h. and has a flying time between charges of........wait for it.......wait for it..................................................................................thirty mins.

The new machine is provided with a collision avoidance system and two parachutes.

At least with no taxi driver you won't get constant chatter of the ilk..." I had that famous actor bloke in the back last week....."

Z.

30 minutes range might be enough with fast charging.
30 miles on one charge would be enough for most taxi journeys.
